Terms & Conditions

The terms that govern our 34 ton side tipper wet-hire service — covering rates, booking, payment, deposits, liability, insurance and maintenance.

These Rental Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern the hire of trucks and trailers from Tipper Truck Hire SA ("we", "us", "our", the "Company"). By booking or hiring equipment from us, you ("the Client") agree to these Terms. All prices quoted exclude Value-Added Tax (VAT) at 15% unless stated otherwise.

1. Definitions

  • "Company" means Tipper Truck Hire SA.
  • "Client" means the person or entity hiring equipment from the Company.
  • "Equipment" means the truck (horse), trailer, or combined horse-and-trailer unit supplied for hire.
  • "Wet Hire" means hire that includes the truck, a certified driver, maintenance and insurance, as set out below.
  • "Rental Period" means the period for which the Equipment is hired.

2. The Wet-Hire Service

Our service is provided on a "wet hire" basis. A single monthly rate includes:

  • The truck and/or trailer;
  • A certified, experienced driver;
  • Full maintenance of the Equipment;
  • Comprehensive insurance, including Goods-in-Transit (GIT) and Public Liability cover;
  • Live GPS tracking of the Equipment.

3. Rates

Our standard monthly wet-hire rates are:

  • Full horse & trailer combination: R70,000 per month;
  • Horse only: R40,000 per month;
  • Trailer only: R30,000 per month.

All rates exclude VAT at 15%. Rates are subject to change and will be confirmed in your quotation.

4. Client Responsibilities

The monthly rate excludes operating costs. The Client is responsible for:

  • Diesel/fuel for the Equipment;
  • Toll fees;
  • Driver subsistence and travel costs (including accommodation where applicable);
  • Daily checks of the Equipment and reporting any issues promptly.

5. Booking & Payment

  • A refundable deposit of R30,000 per truck is required to secure a booking.
  • A non-refundable administration fee of R3,000 applies to each booking.
  • The first month's rental is payable in full before work commences.
  • Equipment is allocated on a first-paid, first-served basis — a booking is only confirmed once payment is received.

6. Minimum Rental Period

The minimum rental period is one (1) month. Thereafter hire continues on a month-to-month basis until terminated in accordance with these Terms.

7. Cancellation

Either party may terminate a month-to-month hire by giving reasonable written notice before the start of the next billing month. The administration fee is non-refundable. Where the Equipment is returned in good order and all amounts owing are settled, the deposit is refunded.

8. Liability & Insurance Excess

The Equipment is comprehensively insured (including GIT and Public Liability). However, the Client may be liable for any insurance excess and for any loss or damage that arises from misuse, negligence, overloading, or use outside the agreed scope. The Company is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss suffered by the Client.

9. Breakdown & Maintenance

The Company maintains the Equipment and provides breakdown support. In the event of a breakdown, the Client must notify us promptly. We will work to repair or replace the Equipment as soon as reasonably possible. The Client must not attempt unauthorised repairs or modifications.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the parties submit to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
